Natural gas rebates back, but going fast

Natural gas rebates for energy efficient natural gas furnaces and boilers have been popular with customers this winter. The program will only last as long as funds in the rebate pool. For rebate forms and more information, visit our rebates page. All rebates require pre-approval (see below). To find the balance of residential natural gas rebate pool, use this link.

Commercial gas, too

Central Hudson has generous natural gas rebates for commercial customers as well. As a SavingsCentral Trade Ally, you are authorized to make these installations. Please use this link to find the rebate levels.

Pre-approvals are necessary

Both residential and commercial natural gas equipment installations must be approved before installation begins to be eligible for customer rebates. Please call Tom Wolf at 845-430-9328 before you get started. This quick step is important in reserving the rebate funds beforehand and making sure what you install meets the requirements of the program.

How can I get BPI certified?

BPI Certified Trade Allies are eligible for an extra incentive of $200 for each energy efficient heating and cooling installation when a Manual J calculation is performed. BPI certified Trade Allies can also help customers who heat with electric or natural gas receive up to $600 for home sealing measures after a blower door test. If you would like to become BPI certified, courses are offered at Ulster County Community College and Hudson Valley Community College. Information regarding classes and schedules can be found here. The home sealing rebate form is available through this link.

Flying high

We have received some questions about Top Flight Trade Ally status. These contractors are those who have successfully completed three or more energy efficient installations that qualified for SavingsCentral rebates during 2010. Please let us know what we can do to help you make more installation this year!

Federal tax credit

Federal Tax Credits for Consumer Energy Efficiency have not disappeared; they have been changed to 10% of cost up to $500 or a specific amount from $50 - $300 for individual energy efficient items. For example, the tax credit amount for energy efficient central air conditioners (split or package) is $300. To learn more, use this link.

Do you install heat pump water heaters?

Heat pump water heaters save customers hundreds of dollars per year when compared to regular electric water heaters, and yet only a few customers have taken advantage of Central Hudson’s $400 rebate. If you are interested in finding what distributors carry heat pump water heaters or what brands are available locally, call Tom Wolf at 845-430-9328.
