Central Hudson's Air Conditioner Recycling Program

Get a rebate worth $50-$100 when upgrading to an Energy Star model

	You must have a receipt for your new ENERGY STAR® air conditioner, Proof of Recycling certificate for your old, working air conditioner and a rebate offer form (all provided by the participating retailer) completed and submitted via mail to receive rebate. Central Hudson’s air conditioner rebate program is under way. Customers who turn in their old, working window or through-the-wall air conditioner at the participating Hudson Valley Sears stores located at the Hudson Valley Mall in Kingston, Newburgh Mall and Poughkeepsie Galleria will have the unit recycled for free, and in return will qualify for a $50 or $100 mail-in rebate toward the purchase of a new Energy Star window air conditioner or through-the-wall unit, respectively.

“This recycling program reduces waste by encouraging our customers to replace their inefficient air conditioners with newer models that use less energy while ensuring their old units are properly recycled,” said Laurito. “This program was very popular among energy-conscious customers last summer, as more than 1,500 window and through-the-wall air conditioners were turned in and recycled last year.”

Central Hudson customers are eligible to recycle and receive rebates for up to four air conditioners per residential account.  Sears will continue to accept units until Sept. 30, 2011, and the new Energy Star unit must be purchased between June 19, 2011 and Sept. 30, 2011.

The heat pump water heater offer and room air conditioner recycling are valid only at Sears stores at the Hudson Valley Mall (Kingston), Newburgh Mall or Poughkeepsie Galleria.

Central Hudson also offers rebates of up to $600 for installing energy efficient central air conditioners, including air-source heat pumps and ductless split AC systems. Central Hudson continues to offer residential customers $50 for their old, working refrigerator or freezer as part of the appliance recycling program, which includes free pick-up and recycling.
