Central Hudson Heat Pump Water Heater Rebate - $400

FAQs
What is a heat pump water heater?
Heat pump water heaters (sometimes called hybrid water heaters) run on electric power but use different technology than standard electric water heaters. Heat pump water heaters work like a refrigerator but in reverse. They have a small pump at the top that extracts heat from warm air around it, intensifies it with a compressor, delivers the heat to the water, and exhausts the cooler air. Because they draw ambient air to do most of the work, they are very efficient. Thanks to the cooler air that is exhausted from the heat pump, some models provide some degree of dehumidification for your basement.
What is the rebate?
The Central Hudson rebate of $400 is only for heat pump water heaters that have an energy factor of 2.0 or higher.
Can I get a tax credit, too?
Yes! In addition to your Central Hudson rebate of $400, you can apply for a federal tax credit for consumer energy efficiency. The tax credit amount is $300. The heat pump water heater must have an energy factor of 2.0 or greater.
For a heat pump water heater placed in service in 2011, you need to file the 2011 IRS Form 5695 and submit it with your 2011 taxes by April 15, 2012. On the 2040 form, the residential energy tax credit (from Form 5695) is claimed on line 52. Save your receipts and the Manufacturer's Certification Statement for your records and submit Form 5695 with your taxes.

How can I have one installed?
All qualifying units can be installed by a SavingsCentral Trade Ally or yourself. All self-installs will be inspected by a Central Hudson representative.
Note: All other Central Hudson energy efficiency HVAC rebates require Trade Ally installation.
