Natural Gas Program Suspended
Due to the success of the SavingsCentral Natural Gas Rebate Program program, its incentive funding is very close to being fully allocated. As a result, this residential gas program has been suspended. Central Hudson is currently working with the New York State Public Service Commission to receive approval for possible additional funding for a residential natural gas program, however it is uncertain if incentive funds will be made available in the future. In the meantime, this is how natural gas rebate applications will be processed:
- For customers who have submitted their applications by Feb. 18, 2010:
- If the application meets the requirements, the incentive will be approved and a rebate check will be issued.
- For applications that are incomplete, the standard procedure will continue where the customer is notified of the missing information. Savings Central Rebate Processing will generate an additional letter to the customer noting that since the funding is very close to being fully allocated, rebates will be paid on a first come, first served basis until the funds are depleted.
- For installations currently underway, applications that meet all requirements will be processed on a first come, first served basis until the funds are depleted. Please note that funds will be depleted within a matter of weeks.
We realize this announcement may cause confusion and frustration. It is our intent to minimize this and communicate clearly during this program suspension. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.
An online energy audit for your home This Home Energy SaverTM calculator is designed to help consumers identify the best ways to save energy in their homes, and find the resources to make the savings happen. This calculator was the first Internet-based tool for calculating energy use in residential buildings. Since each home is unique, an in-home audit by a BPI-certified contractor is the best way to find ways to save. But this calculator has proven to be helpful for many users. Individual results will vary. The project has been sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy, as part of the national ENERGY STAR Program for improving energy efficiency in homes, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the US Department of Housing and Urban Development's PATH program, the California Air Resources Board, the California Energy Commission's Public Interest Energy Research program, and Touchstone Electric Cooperatives.
